You want a new look for your house, but if you’re like me, you’re a little (read: incredibly) design-challenged. So that’s why I turned to the experts to get some advice on 2015’s decor trends. The thing these decorators focused on most? Color! Whether it’s on walls, chairs or pillows, a splash of color will totally change up your space.

Trend: Marsala

At this point, you’ve probably read about and/or seen Pantone’s latest color of the year, Marsala. It’s a burnt-red shade with a bit of a burgundy undertone reminiscent of red wine. From lamps to rugs, Marsala-colored accents are popping up in stores all over—and soon to be on a Keurig brewer!

Trend: Grays and aquas to complement Marsala

Heather French, the co-founder of online boutique Lila Mae, says you should also look for elements to offset Marsala.

“We have a wonderful selection of on-trend home decor in the cool-gray and aqua-blue tones featured in Pantone’s spring color palette,” French says. Offerings in these hues complement Pantone’s 2015 color of the year, Marsala, really well.

Trend: Dreamy murals and ombré wallpaper

Cece Stelljes, of New York City–based firm Revamp Interior Design, says that soft palettes are back, too. You can use them for your walls in mural form or as wallpaper.

“In 2015, we’ll see lots of dreamy watercolor wallpaper, such as prints from Eskayel and murals from Anewall and Black Crow Studios,” Stelljes says. “Also expect more of the ombré effect as seen in Calico Wallpaper’s Aurora collection. These are great for bedrooms or one feature wall of a living area.”

Trend: Gray and blue paint for accent walls

Joey
Vogel, a designer from Canada who founded the firm The Future of Vintage, loves light grays with bluish hues for walls. “I have an obsession with Benjamin Moore CC-910 Whirlpool,” Vogel says. “It
 is such a universal color. It’s a super-light blue-gray and totally
livens up even the smallest space. It is painted on every wall in my
 own house.”

She also recommends accent walls. “I find my clients are often hesitant when it comes to
bright colors but love the idea of doing accent walls,” Vogel says. “Accent walls
are a great way to add a pop of color without totally committing. My
favorite accent colors are Benjamin Moore’s 2133-40 Dior Gray
 and 2133-30 Day’s End—both rich dark gray-blues that truly
bring any accent wall to life.”
